The H.C. Andersen Prize is awarded in Sestri Levante every year: it is a children’s literature competition for the most enchanting, previously unpublished fairytale, animated by a lively 4-day-street festival.

Enchanting seaside resort, Sestri Levante lies in the south-eastern tip of the Gulf of Tigullio. Embraced by the mountains and lapped by the sea, the area is a veritable, fine example of Ligurian landscape.
The city enjoys the benefit of two large sandy and gently sloping beaches. In particular, the Baia delle Favole, which is 1,640 m long and covers an area of 91,550 sq meters, is one of the largest sandy beaches of the Tigullio area.

Vesima is a narrow strip of land wedged between sea and hills, a tiny village with few houses overlooking an enchanting beach - partly equipped with bathing establishments. The beach lays between two cliffs plunging into crystal clear, fishy water. Vesima beach has always been one of the favourite summer destination of the Genoese since it is only few kilometres far from the city, it’s connected by a summer train service and it offers crystal blue waters and a wide sandy or pebbled beach.

The elegant seafront of Rapallo extends from the harbour to the Castle and beyond and it is an ideal place to enjoy a breathtaking sunset either in winter or in summer. By the sea you can have a stroll on a wide pedestrian walkway adorned with benches and flowerbeds with palms and Mediterranean and desert plants reflecting their vivid colours into the sea water. On the opposite side, instead, you can find a great range of charming luxury hotels, restaurants, cafés and bars.

From Rapallo, along the main road to Santa Margherita, there is the hamlet of San Michele di Pagana, located in a beautiful cove. The village is made up of multicolored houses of fishermen, located along the beach.
