This is a museum opened in 1995, thanks to the efforts of the Municipality of Mele of and the Province of Genoa.
The Paper Museum, as the visitors call it, was created in the former paper mill Sbaraggia of Acquasanta, dating back to 1756. The former mill is the memory of the ancient art of "paperai" (paper makers) as workers in paper mills used to be called. Along the Leira there 42 old paper mills, reminding what used to be said in 1567 "no other paper in Europe is used than that of the 'Genoese' (Secret Archives, 2944.27 May 1567).

The ancient parish church of N.S. dell’Assunta, now Oratory "della Natività di Maria S.S." was built between 1580 and 1584 by the feudal lord Lazzaro Cebà, doge of Genoa. The church has a single nave, with stucco decorations from the late eighteenth century.

The large Square of the Castle is the heart of the old town, the ancient village of Masone. It was built by the Marquis G. Carlo Pallavicino, last feudal lord of Masone, on the site where the previous castle was destroyed in 1747 by the Austro-Piedmontese armies.

In the last decades of the nineteenth century, near Genoa, five new military forts were built in order to protect the access to inland roads and in particular to the one leading to Alessandria. Among this building there is Fortress Geremia which is 800 mt. above sea level on the crest of the spur of the Apennines near Voltri, western part of Genoa, with a 360 ° view of the Ligurian Gulf, ranging from Monte di Portofino to Savona, from the Po Valley to the hills of Monferrato.

It’s one of the most important monuments of the valley that was originally part of a monastery of the Cistercian order, not only a spiritual reference point but also an economic and productive one in the valley.

Behind the shoreline and over the seaside atmosphere, the territory of the peasants begins and it’s well represented in the Peasant Museum in Sciarborasca, small hamlet elegantly nestled between the mountains.
