Brochure del Ponente Genovese

A paradise to be enjoyed all year round. The West is only a few of kilometres from Genoa (20 km), 150 km from Milan and 200kmfromTurin. Excellent transport connections (whether you choose to travel by rail, road or air),make for good access to the area. It’s sunny, broad, sandy beaches offer high standard services. There are also excellent sporting facilities, such as the golf courses of Arenzano and Cogoleto and the cycle tracks that link Arenzano, Cogoleto and Varazze.
Whale spotting, use of the underwater gym, deep sea diving, exploring the seabed where the sunken Haven lies, are some of the delights that can be experienced. Get ready to be completely submerged in art, culture and history, allow yourself to be seduced by museums, historical hamlets, locations that elevate the spirit, and opulent noble villas set in plush and lavish parks. Gastronomic delicacies also await, ready to delight the taste buds. A few examples are: the basil of Prà, the farinata of Pegli and the focaccine of Voltri.
Also worth noting are the ancient traditions of the silversmiths of Campo Ligure. Artists who are relatively unknown but of high calibre, give this corner of Liguria its reputation of being a place where the traditions of fine craftsmanship have never died.
Last but not least, the Genovesato offers unspoilt valleys and the Natural Regional Beigua Park: a world of natural beauty to be savoured by walks or lazy ramblings.

Genovesato (Genoese area)

Here, the salty sea air, the myriad scents of woods, parks, gardens, flowers, streams and lakes, create a perfect blend of nature, history, art, culture, tradition, folklore and spirituality. This idyllic area so strongly tied to its climate and land, provides an abundance of seasonal ingredients for the local culinary traditions. For sporting enthusiasts the area also offers a wide range of outdoor activities, from water sports to hiking. The Genovesato (or Genoese area) stretches from the Grande Genova, (from Voltri to Nervi), to the Paradiso Gulf (from Bogliasco to Recco),and includes the inland valleys (Val Bisagno, Val Polcevera, Valle Scrivia and Val Trebbia) touching the borders of Piedmont, Lombardy and Emilia. Situated right in the centre of Liguria, Genoa and its surrounding area has always been the heart and intellectual capital of the region. Visitors walking through its villas, palaces, castles, fortresses, aqueducts and museums can breathe in its thousand year history, and from the walls of its sanctuaries, abbeys, churches and oratories resounds the ancestral religious spirit of its population. Every year people indulge in the traditional religious and pagan festivals and costume parades, renewing the ancient traditions which have been handed down from generation to generation.
This is the perfect place for a holiday painted with deep sea blue and luscious green, with added shades of history and culture.

West and East Tigullio

From Camogli to Chiavari you can admire extraordinary natural beauties, such as the Mount Portofino Park, the enchanting beaches and inlets, the breathtaking deep waters. However, this area offers more than just sea. From the coast you can go up to the inland area of Chiavari along Val Fantanabuona, famous for its slate. Farming on these hills and the orchards over hanging the sea produce excellent fruit and vegetables, while the olive groves and vineyards produce high quality oils and wines. Fishing is also an important local activity: fishermen's cooperatives offer a wide range of freshly caught fish and the famous salted anchovies. Among palm trees and scented pitosphorum, visitors can try local flavors and homemade dishes. Silk, velvet, embroidery, lace and slate are examples of ancient crafts handed down from generation to generation. Tourists can enjoy golfing, sailing regattas, the tourist ports, hiking and scuba-diving, but also bustling entertainment and charming hospitality. This area offers a wide range of hotels, trendy shops, gourmet restaurants, bars, pubs and fashionable nightclubs, all examples of a high-quality tourist offer.
And also, in the eastern part of the Province of Genoa - nestled between Chiavari to the west and Moneglia to the east and inland, by the valleys (Petronio, Graveglia, Sturla and d’Aveto) which ascend towards hilly and mountainous landscapes dotted with ancient villages - visitors can head away from the beaches of the Tigullio Gulf towards the Apennine peaks. A haven of history and nature enclosed between the sea and mountains. From the tourist quays and sunny, golden sandy beaches where tourists can try their hand at water sports or fishing, it’s possible to quickly ascend to 2000metres above sea level. In fact, a short climb of just a few kilometres through silvery olive groves, chestnut tree woods, oaks and beech trees leads you to the high peaks of Val d'Aveto, all its beauty reflected in the emerald green lakes. In winter these peaks are snow-capped and suitable for skiing, thanks also to the modernised ski lifts: Santo Stefano D'Aveto is the biggest ski resort in Liguria. This is a holiday full of sun, sea and sand, but also of enchanted woods, secluded peaks, parks of unspoilt nature and beauty, folklore, food and wine, historic monuments and spiritual locations, such as the Abbey of S. Andrea di Borzone and the Basilica of S. Salvatore dei Fieschi.
