Avegno is a nice hamlet on the hills of the coastal town Recco. A fief of the Malaspina family in the past, it became autonomous in 1798 when the Constitution of the Ligurian Republic was established. It consists of different districts, the oldest part of the town is situated along the slopes of the mountains traversed by Recco stream and the ancient Via Romana.

The town was founded on a road built by the censor Emilio Scauro in the Roman Age. It was a typical seaside village overlooking a small cove at the mouth of the homonymous stream, crossed by a Roman bridge.

It’s a town in the Upper Scrivia Valley at the feet of Giovi’s hill. It developed on the west part of the old centre previously documented in the Middle Ages. It was mentioned for the first time in a document of the year 1239, when it was an imperial fief held by the Spinola family of Luccoli, who had built a castle. The Genoese Guelphs beset and conquered it in 1252.

One of the most beautiful hamlets in Italy, it has put forward its candidacy to the conferment of the Orange Flag. Its place-name, Campo (field), which dates back to the fortified camp that the Roman legions would place (3rd century a. C.), then became Campo Freddo (cold field), derived from “frei” (free) because it was not part of the Superba domains. The town then passed under the Kingdom of Savoy and assumed its present name in 1884.

It is situated in the Fontanabuona Valley, at the feet of a wooded hollow with lot of vineyards lapped by the Lavagna river on Mount Carnella’s slopes. It was an important trade junction in the Middle Ages. Owned by the monastery of San Giovanni di Pavia, it then became a fief of the Ravaschieri family, branch of the Counts of Lavagna.

It is a centre in the upper Scrivia valley at the feet of Mount Maggio. It was a fief of the Bishops of Tortona in the 12th and 13th centuries and then of the Fieschi family of Savignone. The town is mentioned several times in different documents, mostly ecclesiastical, of the 16th century. Historically the centre was an important crossroads for trade routes. The fief finally passed to the Republic of Genoa.

The town stretches on the hilly slopes of Polcevera Valley. Its territory is the largest in the Province of Genova. Divided into many fractions, it lies between vineyards, orchards and woods from the boundaries of Bolzaneto to the boundaries between Liguria and Piemonte, with the Piani di Praglia, passing through the villages of Santa Marta, Ferriera, Pontasso e San Martino di Paravanico at the bottom of the valley.
