Opened in 1984 on the initiative of the diocesan curia, the museum occupies the first floor of the Bishop's Palace, on the premises that were previously used as a library of the seminary.
The museum contains paintings, sculptures, silver and textiles from both churches that continue to officiate and to no longer extant religious complexes. From the church of St. John the Baptist comes the Madonna and Child, a table referring to the group of Barnaba da Modena.

It was built between the late '20s and early '30s of 1900 by the will of Cantero, family concerned since the beginning of the last century in the film showings, first performed in the deconsecrated church of San Francesco and later in the first real cinemas in the city.
The architectural design of the monument shows the transition between the building devoted to theater and the one to film projection which is used to create a new space typical of the time which could be called theater / cinema.

The Museum has its origins in an exhibition set up in Chiavari on the Risorgimento in 1938 by the Economic Society in cooperation with the municipality: it was decided, in fact, thanks to its success and to the contemporaneous documents and artifacts donated by private individuals, to give life to a Museum of the Risorgimento.

Nestled in a wooded hill along the Via Aurelia, between Chiavari and Zoagli, the Shrine is well visible from the sea. It’s for this reason probably that it was once a popular destination for yachtsmen who left numerous ex-votos now moved to the chapel and the sacristy.
